To ensure that all Monolith Kamado models are compatible with the Guru version, all our Kamado models now include an adapter for the Guru blower (*accessory). The smart system consists of a fan located at the outlet of the pre-installed adapter on the Pro 2.0 Series, a temperature sensor on the grill grate that monitors the cooking area temperature, and a digital control unit (BBQ Guru) that regulates the temperature. If the cooking area temperature drops, the fan blows air (oxygen) into the combustion chamber, causing the grill to generate higher temperatures. Once the target temperature is reached, the fan only blows air in bursts to maintain the target temperature previously set on the BBQ Guru smart device. The device is available in different versions. If no BBQ Guru controller is connected, the BBQ Guru blower nozzle is simply closed with the supplied silicone plug and adjusted manually. Manual control works very well even without electronic assistance, provided the ambient temperature (e.g., overnight) does not change significantly. The lid can be removed thanks to its hinge, and the ICON can be used as a tabletop barbecue or fitted with a steel griddle (*accessory) for cooking on top. When using a griddle with the lid open, the temperature is very high in the areas directly over the heat source and slightly lower on the outer edges where the griddle protrudes. This allows you to sear or char the meat in the center and then move it to the outer edges to finish cooking and keep it warm.
